endlessly fascinated by words, wearables, & where culture is going next…
Having earned a BA in Modern Culture and Media at Brown University during the boom of the social media ecosystem, I intuitively understand the evolving language of storytelling within the fast-paced digital era; my writing reflects this instinctual grasp of content’s accelerating tempo and increasingly nuanced tone (HarpersBazaar.com, Queerty.com, Elle.com, Papermag.com, BusinessofFashion.com, Town & Country, Fashionista.com, the Grio, TheSexEd.com, and them.us).
Uniquely tapping the skills, taste, and project management discernment I cultivated as a Senior Apparel and Accessories Designer within some of the most influential design studios on 7th Avenue (Michael Kors, Isaac Mizrahi, Oscar de la Renta), the editorial pieces and projects I bring to life reflect a laser-sharp analysis of the ways via which aesthetics and identity symbiotically dialogue.
I channel this thoughtful consideration of culture, style, and nuance throughout the marketing, engagement, and user experience work I do as a copywriter. My objective is to convey far more than activation-related information; along with the “must-knows” of copy, I want to communicate those intangibles about a client’s broader sensibility that elicit audience loyalty, ultimately realizing organic conversions and rich conversations.
Since 2018—when I published a landmark equity-action proposal in the Business of Fashion—I’ve worked tirelessly advocating for the community of Black, style professionals. Most recently—amid a global Black Lives Matter call-to-action—I co-founded The Kelly Initiative, garnering press coverage in Vogue, The Washington Post, and WWD for the org’s solutions-driven plan to increase fashion industry inclusion via trackable metrics.
Most recently, I co-founded Lance Pierres Los Angeles. We build elevated, essential accessories with an emphasis on quiet innovation through sustainable practices; fewer cuts, fewer seams, less unnecessary hardware, more intentional details, more meticulous selection of materials, and greater attention to timely/timeless taste. Conceived, designed, and crafted in “the city of angels”, we operate independently (and at times, collaboratively,) engaging equitably with local vendors, caring just as much about “how we make” as “what we make”.
